What You Get!
1. Full assisted stretch with integrative consultation. (If you have no questions, feel free to just enjoy your stretch!)
Each stretch gets you an hour with me. The first 45-50 mins will be assisted stretching on the table. Booking a stretch gets you an integrative consultation, with full access to my knowledge while stretching. During this time you can ask questions on nutrition, herbs, supplements, exercise or stretching. We can create a full exercise routine if needed, so feel free to clarify what you need during the session! If you have detailed questions or have concerns about medication or chronic conditions, I may recommend booking a nutrition consultation.
2. A custom stretch routine.
The last 10-15 minutes will be homework stretches and or tips. Here is where we will focus on helping you create a steady routine for when you are stretching on your own. I will show you stretches to focus on and how to adjust them to fit your specific needs. We will discuss how to incorporate stretching into your schedule, when you should stretch based on your routines and other methods that may help. These may include things like elevation of the legs, using heat in target areas or methods like dry brushing for better lymphatic drainage. As you see me we will continue to add and or change this routine when necessary.
What exactly is assisted stretching?
When someone else helps you stretch your muscles. This is done by putting your body or limbs into different positions. Stretching helps relax tense muscles allowing for better function. Our muscles get tense throughout the day as we complete basic tasks or stay in certain positions for long periods of time For example, people who stand, sit or walk constantly can have tight leg muscles. Your muscles can also get tense from stress or injury and repair. When we have surgery, muscle fibers are cut and may lose muscle tone. This makes your muscle weaker, which is why physical therapy is done afterwards to regain strength.
However, muscles need both strength and flexibility to operate properly. Strength is needed to bear weight and flexibility is needed to ensure our joints have full range of motion. Stretching helps maintain or regain full range of motion in a joint. Other benefits of stretching include reduced muscle stiffness, improved posture and enhanced circulation. Stretching also relieves stress, improves sleep and reduces tension headaches. For athletes stretching improves performance as it increases efficiency, and allows for more powerful movements. It also improves coordination, prevents injuries and increases joint stability making it ideal for professional athletes.
